Description
This vanilla paste recipe is quick, alcohol-free, and made with real beans. Enjoy rich flavor and flecks of vanilla in just 10 minutes!
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 whole vanilla beans (Grade B for stronger vanilla flavor)
- ½ cup vegetable glycerin (alcohol-free alternative for homemade vanilla paste)
- ¼ cup filtered water
- 1 tsp arrowroot powder (optional thickener for better consistency)
Instructions
- Slice the vanilla beans lengthwise and scrape out the seeds, then chop the pods into small pieces
- In a small saucepan, combine the seeds, pods, glycerin, and filtered water over low heat
- Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes while stirring to release the rich vanilla flavor
- Whisk in arrowroot powder if you prefer a thicker vanilla paste consistency
- Remove from heat, allow to cool slightly, then blend until smooth
- Transfer the mixture to a sterilized glass jar and store in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months
Notes
- Use Grade B vanilla beans for more flavor and affordability
- For a coconut-flavored twist, replace glycerin with coconut syrup
- Shake before each use to redistribute the vanilla specks
- Store the jar in a cool pantry, not in the refrigerator
- Blend longer if you prefer a super smooth paste
